Dear Friends,
Today we enjoyed a simply marvelous workshop all about simple machines and the work they do to help us. We learned about things that push, pull and lift. It was a wonderful morning of hands-on action while we played to learn about this really interesting branch of science called physics.
Yes, your children were physicists today. 🙂
Here is Valerie, she was our scientist leader.
We learned about levers. A lever helps to lift things.
We learned about inclined planes. An incline plane is a sloping surface that helps things move up or down.
We learned about wedges. A wedge is made from two inclined planes that meet at an edge and is used to push something apart.
We learned about gears. Gears are wheels with teeth, they turn to help things move.
Do you know that your house is full of these kinds of simple machines? Try finding a few with your child.
We had a morning full of wonderful investigation and learning thanks to some special volunteers… Big thanks to Emery’s mom, Johnathan’s dad, Anikait’s mom, Isabella’s mom, Lucas’s mom and Jaden’s mom for helping us experience the awesome power of science!
Love,
Miss Parliament
